Ophthalmic Assistants provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist and assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling, and exam room preparation. **Candidate must perform manual refractions. Perform visual field testing, topography, OCT and fundus photography experience preferred.** **A caregiver in this position works 7:00AM - 5:00PM or 7:30AM-4:30PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Receive and prepare patients for examination or treatment. + Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and routine screening tests. + Assist physicians with examinations and procedures. + Document patient information in their medical record. + Perform clerical, stocking, maintenance and related duties. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High school diploma or GED. + Prior experience in a customer-facing role OR additional formal education or training in ophthalmology. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Knowledge of medical terminology. + Prior experience in a healthcare setting in a patient-facing role. + Prior experience documenting exam findings in Epic.
