Night Crew Supervisor – Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service. Assist customers by making product suggestions. Engage in suggestive selling through phone calls, intercom announcements, and direct customer interactions. Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and report to the Store Director when necessary.

Department Operations & Merchandising

Assist with planning nightly operations and monitoring production processes following company procedures and profitability goals. Build grocery displays; rotate and remove outdated or spoiled product. Ensure department cleanliness and organization. Implement promotional and seasonal displays; assist with coordinating grocery sales promotions. Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, properly displayed, and shelves are clean and well maintained. Maintain the ability to follow and uphold department standards and operational requirements.

Team Leadership & Training

Monitor employee productivity. Possess complete knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing, dairy, and frozen. Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees in store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures.

Compliance & Policy Adherence

Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Ensure proper code‑dating practices for all products. Assist with physical inventory as required (typically every 6 months). Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating guidelines. Comply with and enforce company grooming standards and dress code.

Inventory, Reclamation & Shrink Control

Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Maintain inventory levels according to division directives. Stock and rotate product consistently. Supervise reclamation processing. Maintain organized and fully stocked conditions in the back room and all Grocery Department areas. Control shrink and departmental costs. Implement correct product preparation and handling techniques. Operate related equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.

Receiving & Administrative Duties

Perform receiving duties including: Breaking down loads Verifying invoices Inspecting product quality Reporting shortages Stocking and rotating product Follow proper temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Complete, maintain, and monitor required documentation such as: Daily log sheets Sales and labor reports Other required logs and paperwork

Temperature Control & Safety

Ensure proper product temperatures are maintained at all times. Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas. Follow and enforce workplace safety rules and regulations. Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.

Technology & Ordering

Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to place product orders when required.
