Night Auditor

A Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the auditing, posting and balancing of daily financial transactions to support the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

What will I be doing?

As Night Auditor, you would be responsible for overseeing the auditing, posting and balancing of daily financial transactions to support the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Guest Services: Checking in and out guests, handling late arrivals, responding to inquiries, and addressing complaints or special requests, answer phones, and resolve complaints or issues promptly while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

 

Financial Auditing & Reporting: Oversee the auditing, posting, and balancing of daily financial transactions, including room, restaurant, bar, and other hotel revenue streams. Run end-of-day audit reports, reconcile credit card payments, and ensure all accounts are accurate for management review.

 

Administrative Tasks: Updating guest accounts, maintaining records, preparing invoices, and coordinating with other hotel departments to resolve discrepancies.

 

Operational Support: Monitoring room availability, managing reservations, and ensuring the front desk operates efficiently with minimal staff.

 

System Management: Reset hotel systems for the next day, input revenue and expense data, and make necessary corrections or adjustments in the property management system (OnQ, Micros, or similar) to ensure smooth operations. Handle all computer end of day issues and problems that might occur throughout shift.

 

Security and Compliance: Maintaining confidentiality, safeguarding hotel assets, and following company policies and safety protocols. Monitor night operations to ensure adherence to hotel policies, security standards, and guest service excellence.

 

Supportive Functions: Assist the Night Manager with additional tasks as needed, including filing reports, maintaining backup vouchers, and cross-training in other hotel areas.

To be successful in this role, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Hospitality or a Business-related field

2 years of college education, minimum required

Able to communicate in English and Spanish, required

Customer service experience, required

Prior experience in night audit or front desk operations, highly valued 

Prior cash and/or credit card handling experience

Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Available for night shifts, weekends and occasional long hours

Knowledge of safety and security procedures

Advanced math and bookkeeping skills

Ability to perform computer-based tasks such as data entry, accounting, word processing, invoicing and billing
