About the Role:

As the Night Audit Manager, you will oversee the overnight operations of the hotel, ensuring accurate balancing of revenues and expenses while maintaining exceptional guest service. You will supervise night audit and front desk activities, provide leadership to the overnight team, and act as the main point of contact for guest and operational issues. As part of the Hyatt Place Toronto Airport pre-opening team, you will also contribute to setting up financial processes, guest service standards, and operational procedures to ensure a successful opening.

Job Responsibilities:

Balance and audit room revenue, food & beverage revenue, and ancillary charges; prepare accurate daily revenue reports. Review and audit cashier reports, room and tax charges, variance reports, and guest/house accounts for accuracy. Ensure compliance with hotel accounting procedures, financial transactions, and cash security. Perform guest service duties such as check-in/check-out, reservations, guest assistance, and switchboard support. Handle guest concerns, emergencies, and operational needs overnight in a professional manner. Prepare and transmit required overnight reports to management. Liaise with other hotel departments to resolve discrepancies and support smooth communication. Troubleshoot hotel systems (Opera or other PMS) during overnight hours and escalate issues when necessary. Evaluate team performance and provide feedback, coaching, or corrective actions when necessary. Monitor property security and safety throughout the night, coordinating with staff to enforce policies and procedures. Promote guest satisfaction by ensuring high service standards, responding to requests promptly, and resolving issues effectively Support pre-opening tasks such as implementing financial procedures, configuring systems, and training staff. Collaborate with department heads to ensure seamless transition of operations between day and night shifts Train and mentor overnight team members, ensuring they meet service and performance standards. Conduct nightly team briefings to review occupancy forecasts, guest arrivals/departures, and special requirements. Oversee compliance with accounting policies, cash handling procedures, and audit requirements. Act as Manager on Duty overnight, handling guest complaints, emergencies, and operational decisions with professionalism. Review, finalize, and distribute daily reports including revenue summaries, variance analyses, and reconciliations. Ensure accurate balancing of all hotel revenues, expenses, and room charges across all departments. Supervise and lead the night audit and front desk teams, providing direction and support during overnight operations.

Requirements:

Flexibility: Willingness to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as required in a leadership capacity. Attributes: Reliable, organized, proactive, and capable of handling both operational and financial responsibilities under pressure. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and senior management. Technical Skills: Strong numerical accuracy, analytical ability, and proficiency in hotel PMS systems (Opera experience an asset). Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team; skilled in performance management and conflict resolution. Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hotel night audit or front office experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Education: High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality strongly preferred.

Health & Safety:

Ensure all overnight staff comply with Hyatt’s Health & Safety Program and Occupational Health & Safety regulations. Lead by example in enforcing safe work practices, proper use of PPE, and adherence to emergency procedures. Conduct regular safety checks during overnight hours and report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately. Provide training and refreshers for overnight team members on emergency response and workplace safety protocols. Investigate and document any overnight incidents, accidents, or near-misses, escalating to management as required. Maintain secure handling of cash, keys, and confidential guest information in line with company policy. Promote a safety-first culture by encouraging team accountability and reinforcing the “Clean as You Go” policy
