NGM - Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer I, II or III

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Geotechnical Engineer I, II or III to join our team. The successful candidate will review and manage slope stability data collection and analysis of geologic structure, blast design, and slope monitoring.

Responsibilities for Surface Geotechnical Engineers:

Surface geotechnical support of active open pit mines and waste rock storage facilities Develop and maintain strong working relationships with mine geology, mine operations, dewatering, drill and blast, and mine engineering groups Ensure adequate geotechnical instrumentation is deployed, read, maintained, and data reported Ensure sites comply with the Barrick Ground Control Standard and Fatal Risk Fall of Ground Standard Geotechnical engineering analyses including slope stability analyses and interpretation of laboratory testing results and slope performance data Data collection and assessment of rock mass and rock fabric properties including logging of drill holes and excavations Assist with slope design and slope management Assist with ground control safety training programs Supervision of consultants and contractors, as necessary Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology required Geotechnical Experience: Surface 3-7 Years required Geotechnical Experience: Underground 5-7 Years, Geotechnical Design Work required Experience with rock mass classification systems, geotechnical analysis, structural mapping, ground support designs and underground mining QA/QC programs required Understanding and experience with open pit blasting techniques and controls preferred Understanding of slope design workflows at the bench to overall slope scales preferred Understanding of 3-D geologic model inputs and development, and impacts on slope stability and design required Familiarity with various geotechnical software packages preferred Excellent safety record and the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills required Ability to work outside (or underground) in varied climatic conditions for extended periods required Flexibility in work hours for on-call and call-outs, as needed required on-call and call-outs, as needed required
