NGM - Head of Metallurgy & Processing

Position Description:

We are looking for a Head of Metallurgy & Processing to join our team. The successful candidate will evaluate strategic processing opportunities across the NGM portfolio, work collaboratively with the Exploration, MRM, and Planning Function teams to generate integrated strategic plans, provide technical expertise and training to the various NGM operating sites, and drive innovative technical solutions for improved overall performance.

Responsibilities:

Lead the metallurgy and process functions within NGM technical services to effectively support the operations along with growth of NGM Fulfill the responsibilities of QP metallurgy and process at an NGM level Work closely with the technical and operations teams to identify new solutions and best practices for extracting gold economically from lower-grade, complex refractory ores. Build and maintain partnerships through the Barrick group Community of Practices (COP) and with external agencies to stay current in developments in metallurgy, process technology, and refractory ore processing Provide technical oversight and support to all NGM processing operations Ensure appropriate metallurgical investigation and process design is undertaken for all expansion and growth projects Support, develop and maintain oversight of metal accounting practices across the NGM group Audit the metallurgical accounting systems including sampling and recommend improvement changes and training requirements for the site responsible teams Lead and interface with specialist project houses on the feasibility studies, design, construction and commissioning of expansion and new projects Work closely with Geology, internal and external stakeholders in understanding and evaluating critical and other mineral opportunities. Ensure the alignment and quality of metallurgical laboratories across the group and the appropriate selection of internal and external labs.  Support technical development of the process and metallurgy teams through coordination and facilitation of training, visits, and other events. Assist in optimizing sites using technology, to include APC’s and optimize reagents and maximize  recoveries Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent Process-related degree required. 15 to 12 years’ experience (10 yrs gold) in processing plants required. 5 years’ technical work including metallurgical studies, processing plant engineering design and project execution preferred. Ability to research novel opportunities, create metallurgical testing programs, analyze information, draw conclusions, and adjust course to advance knowledge efficiently. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required. Able to prepare and present reports to all levels of the organization in an accurate and understandable format is required Proven success in implementing and managing change processes is required An exemplary safety, performance, and attendance record is required Proactive focus on talent assessment and career development for key Process staff is required Demonstrated ability to design, implement and control internal and external projects is required Sound business judgment and knowledge of financial and accounting functions together with a solid understanding of what drives profitability, cash flow and costs is required Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required
