The NewsNation Associate Producer is responsible for contributing story ideas, writing stories and segments, compiling elements to support those stories, and organizing them within an energetic and memorable way for the daily broadcast of Elizabeth Vargas Reports. The position in the network’s New York offices.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pitches story ideasResearches production topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sourcesGathers elements: video, stills, user generated contentMakes graphics requests when neededWrites editorial copyAssist in preparing and executing live correspondent hits or guests segmentsPerform other tasks as assigned by show leaders or news management

Requirements & Skills:

BA/BS degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related fieldTwo to three years' experience in national or major-market television newsStrong writing skills requiredAbility to create dynamic graphic and video elementsMust be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of peopleInteract well with on-air talent, news managers, videographers, production, digital and engineering staffDetail-orientedExcellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skillsHandle stress, including short deadlinesWork at a computer for extended periods of timeMust be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 (commensurate with experience)
