Job Description

As a Network System Test Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will contribute to projects involving the architecture, design and development of automated testing for communication modules. Your responsibilities will include test planning, create test cases, and execute tests using specialized analysis methods, construction techniques, and automation frameworks tailored to industrial automation challenges.

You'll play a central part in designing and implementing test automation and building system test environments that push Rockwell products to their limits. You'll collaborate on a comprehensive verification and validation program designed to strengthen product reliability. Your efforts will help ensure that products are free of defects, meet performance standards, and align with total quality management principles.

You will report to the Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Katowice, Poland.

Your Responsibilities:Contribute to team planning and status meetings to clarify priorities, assignments, and expected deliverables· Performs system / interoperability tests of industrial control systems with focus on networkingPerform system analysis to identify system test coverage. Use that analysis to design test environment and testware.Implement routine functional testing with existing test assets and cases, applying white-box, grey-box, and black-box methods to uncover vulnerabilitiesDocument test outcomes and report identified issuesCollaborate with developers to analyze and define discovered problemsCreate new test assets and cases to address evolving product or system requirementsHelp design and implement automated testing within a continuous integration/DevOps workflowBuild and expand knowledge of testing methodologies and practicesEnhance expertise in functional test development processesAssess challenges and explore solutions by consulting subject matter experts, ensuring decisions are evidence-based throughout product developmentDefine timelines for assigned tasks/projects and monitor progress against themApply testing tools and techniques to achieve comprehensive functional coverageDeliver informal technical presentations to small groups on specialized topicsStay informed on new technologies, industry trends, and IT/OT best practicesShow curiosity toward new technologies and products that could enhance Rockwell's offerings, while learning and refining skillsRecord and summarize testing results

The Essentials - You Will Have:Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer ScienceAt least 2 years' experience developing and starting up control systems – either process control or manufacturing automationKnowledge of PLC programming languages like LD, SFC, FBD, ST or IL Understanding of computer networks and communication protocolsExperience designing, implementing and troubleshooting network implementationsTechnical background in Networking solutions and implementation strategies and understanding of IT and OT convergenceBackground in Test, specifically in testing of ethernet networks and test environment design for ethernet networks.Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworksFamiliarity with software process development practicesKnowledge of industrial control systemsEnglish: B2/C1

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:Experience with network technologies including (STP, VLANs, DTP, VTP, IGMP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, Flex links, ACLs, DLR, PRP, HSR, MRP…)Experience with Cisco IE/Stratix networking switches and routers.Experience with Network management software and network diagnostics and utilities.Experience programming in languages like PythonExperience in Software or Product Development a huge plusISTQB Foundation Level certificateExperience with Rockwell Automation products
