Network Field Engineer (On Site) - Health Alliance Plan

This position will require on site/in person work daily.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Network Field Engineer provides support for data center LANs, WAN connections, and application performance troubleshooting. This individual is responsible for delivery of new functionality, day-to-day operations, and participating in break/fix activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitor the day-to-day operations of the data network within his/her defined scope.Provide technical assistance and resolution for network problems.Recommend and assist with the implementation of complex upgrades and improvements to the data network as assigned.Work with other infrastructure groups and end-users to identify and troubleshoot performance issues in an enterprise environment.Monitor the installation, maintenance, and monitoring systems of the Clients' network.Participate in on-call rotation.Problem Solving and Critical Thinking.Applies advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently.Displays a high level of critical thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex and/or cross-functional problems.Interaction with HFHS Security Operations and HFHS Network Operations area in support of network environment.Able to work frequent evenings and weekends.Strong team player that must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team environment and adhere to existing processes and procedures.Reliable with a positive mental attitude and professional appearance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associate's degree or one to two (1-2) years of vocational technical training preferred.Advanced certifications for equipment supportedFive plus (5+) years of experience in a complex multi-vendor network using technologies such as OC3, OSPF, DS3, T1, Layer 2/3 Switching/Routing on a Avaya/Nortel 8600/8800/5500 and Cisco 65xx, 37xx, Nexus 55xx and 22xx series platforms and hierarchical network topology.Experience with TDM equipment such as GDC preferred.Has quantifiable experience designing and implementing comprehensive network solutions using Avaya/Nortel and Cisco Networks products.Can, without assistance, plan, implement, and/or engineer network solutions based upon Avaya/Nortel and Cisco equipment with intermediate to advanced complexity.Able to create comprehensive documentation using Visio and related tools.Plan, implement, and/or engineer network solutions based on Nortel equipment with intermediate to advanced complexity.Knowledge of HIPAA regulations preferred.Demonstrates comprehensive working knowledge of a technical or specialty area, and of operations, methods, and practices.No direct supervisory or leadership experience required.In-team mentoring experience.
