Network Engineer
Job Description A client is seeking a Network Engineer to support a major network conversion project involving 120 newly acquired locations. This role includes facilitating remote smart hands during surveys and deployments, building detailed network diagrams in Visio, and configuring Fortinet equipment such as firewalls, switches, and access points. The engineer will collaborate closely with project managers, join PM meetings to address technical questions, and ensure all gear is shipped and ready for deployment. On go-live nights, the engineer will provide air support and troubleshoot any discrepancies between planned configurations and real-world conditions. Additional responsibilities include maintaining task updates, preparing sites for deployment, and assisting with multiple locations simultaneously to ensure smooth conversions. Skills and Requirements Strong experience with Fortinet networking technologies (firewalls, FortiManager deployments, switches, access points) Ability to build Visio diagrams and configure networks remotely Understanding of VLANs, VPNs, SSIDs, and basic Cisco tasks MSP experience preferred Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently without micromanagement Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a team player Cisco networking knowledge Experience with network security and access control Familiarity with small business site setups (single firewall/AP/switch)
