The Senior IT Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures across hybrid environments. This role requires expertise in routing, switching, and/or firewall technologies, as well as integration of on-premises and cloud-based networks. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, security, and scalability of network systems to support business operations. **Your role and responsibilities** As an entry level Infrastructure Specialist at IBM you will support the infrastructure running industries likes transportation, energy, insurance, banking or healthcare which are rapidly changing as the worlds relationship with technology evolves. As an Associate Infrastructure Specialist, you'll be responsible for keeping up with the latest changes, using your expertise to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our clients and products. In your role you may be responsible for: * Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, SD-WAN). * Implement and manage Switching/Routing OR Firewall solutions to ensure secure and efficient connectivity. * Lead Hybrid Network Integration projects, connecting on-premises systems with cloud environments. * Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize configurations for reliability and speed. * Collaborate with security teams to enforce network security policies and compliance standards. * Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers. * Document network architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. * Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution. **Required technical and professional expertise** 6-9 years of hands-on experience in network engineering. Strong expertise in Switching/Routing OR Firewall technologies (Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.). Some network certification, (CCNA, higher, e.g., or CCNP). Proven experience in Hybrid Network Integration (on-premises + cloud). Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, and network security principles. Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. **Preferred technical and professional experience** Advanced certifications (CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent). Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies and network automation (Python, Ansible). Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management.
