Network Development Engineer, Core Network - Data Center Life Cycle
Amazon.com
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Within AWS Networking, the DC Life Cycle (DCLC) team owns the design and delivery of new network fabrics to refresh existing Data Centers, as well as the logical decommissioning of the obsolete network both in these refreshed Data Centers and in Data Centers selected for exit. We are looking for a Network Development Engineer III (NDE) to join our Data Center Life Cycle (DCLC) team.
Key job responsibilities
- Define the technical framework and metrics for DCLC programs like DC refresh and turndown, track them, and tune/optimize the processes when required
- Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, test, and execute the technical processes required to refresh the network of a data center and to turn down the network of a data center to be exited.
- Execute these processes in concrete projects and coordinate impacted network and infrastructure teams to ensure project success.
- Ensure operational excellence, namely that all activities are done safely with no impact to customer traffic.
- Define and implement automation required for the programs.
