Role Overview
The Global Network Delivery organisation is seeking a highly motivated Network Deployment Planner to join our Planning and Implementation team. This role focuses on scoping and planning interdependent capacity scaling projects and new network capacity deployments for Room 1 and Room 2+ builds across multiple data centre locations. The ideal candidate will work independently with partner teams to deliver network infrastructure with minimal supervision, driving stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks.
Key job responsibilities
Risk Management & Proactive Planning
• Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, removing hurdles during the planning stage before they impact on-site delivery
• Develop contingency plans for complex network deployment scenarios proactively engaging with partner teams
• Anticipate potential blockers and work cross-functionally to resolve ambiguous challenges before they escalate
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurring issues
• Anticipate and assess cabling impact, due to a new process or new technology being rolled out, ahead in the planning cycle.
Project Management & Execution
• Lead end-to-end planning for Room 1 and Room 2+ network infrastructure builds
• Create detailed network rack splits and position plans for placement of network racks on data centre floors. Draw up position plans showcasing network rack placements.
• Coordinate design reviews, project timelines/schedules, and construction milestones highlighting network and larger project level risks.
• Manage core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, quality, risk, and critical path management
• Ensure adherence to timelines and deliver sustainable, repeatable solutions with continuous improvement focus.
• Capture local site critical nuances working with GND Deployment teams when planning for remote sites.
• Ability to successfully context switch between multiple high-priority concurrent projects
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
• Work independently with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering, and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity
• Build strong relationships to collaborate and unblock project challenges across organizational boundaries
• Manage vendor and supplier conversations to ensure prompt delivery and prevent project delays due to materials
• Partner with deployment technicians to facilitate smooth capacity execution
• Engage with regional leadership teams to align on strategic priorities and delivery commitments
Reporting & Analytics
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project tracking and performance metrics
• Create and send detailed reports on project status, risks, dependencies, and delivery timelines
• Analyse data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimisation
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders with actionable insights and recommendations
• Leverage data-driven decision making to improve planning accuracy and delivery performance
Technical Planning & Infrastructure
• Conduct HLD (High-Level Design) reviews and provide technical input
• Perform accurate inventory planning and optimization through the PR/PO process
• Plan for landing of network racks, power requirements, and position configurations
• Drive and implement structured cabling in new builds based on lessons learned and latest AWS standards
• Review project forecasts and ensure physical infrastructure resources are available for execution
• Understand and apply knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and fibre solutions
Scripting & Automation (Advantage)
• Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline planning processes and reduce manual effort
• Create data analysis tools to enhance reporting capabilities and insights
• Build automated workflows for repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Leverage coding skills to innovate and scale network planning operations
A day in the life
• Planning of Network projects six to eight months in advance tackling the networking infrastructure required to cater for AWS DC expansion targets of the business.
• Design the Network Position Planning, create project reports and provide weekly updates across the multiple projects in your own portfolio.
• Procure relevant cabling material timely after verifying accuracy of counts and lengths.
• Build strong relationships to collaborate and unblock project challenges beyond the scope of Network Infra Delivery only
• Understand the latest trends and best practices followed at a regional level and implement in local builds.
• Help us hire and develop the best in our team to consistently raise the team's bar.
About the team
GND APAC is a part of a subset but a key global team under the AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) team that tackles the Network Infrastructure demands becoming the human glue between Global Networking and local/regional Infrastructure teams.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of vendor management experience
- 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience
- 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
- 5+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in vendor management

Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of construction or project management experience
- Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
