Join WWT today! **Position Title:** Network Communications Infrastructure Engineer **Location:** Washington DC Capital Region **Travel:** 25% **Position Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Network Communications Infrastructure Engineer to design and implement advanced network communications infrastructure for data platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in network engineering, communications protocols, and real-time systems, along with strong programming and system design skills. This role ensures seamless integration of land mobile radio (LMR) systems with IP-based networking environments to provide mission-critical voice and data services for public safety, federal law enforcement, and emergency response operations. The engineer will collaborate closely with radio engineers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to deliver robust and highly available communications networks. **Key Responsibilities:** + Design and implement advanced network communications infrastructure tailored for data platforms. + Develop high-performance data acquisition systems specifically for network telemetry. + Create and manage real-time streaming architectures to handle communications data efficiently. + Implement and optimize network protocols and custom communication interfaces to enhance performance. + Optimize data throughput and latency, focusing on large-scale deployments. + Design redundant communication paths to ensure system resilience and reliability. + Integrate network solutions with existing network management and monitoring platforms. + Troubleshoot and resolve network outages and communication issues affecting P25 system functionality. + Maintain network diagrams, topology maps, and documentation of configurations, IP schemas, and port assignments. + Coordinate with equipment vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders during new deployments, upgrades, and maintenance windows. + Provide technical support for field technicians and system users during mission-critical events, exercises, and disaster response scenarios. + Document network architectures and communication protocols comprehensively for future reference and scalability. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field. + Deep expertise in network engineering, communications protocols, and real-time systems. + Strong programming skills and system design capabilities. + Proven experience in designing and implementing network communications infrastructure. + Familiarity with real-time streaming architectures and data acquisition systems. + Ability to optimize data throughput and latency for large-scale network deployments. + Experience in designing redundant communication paths for enhanced system resilience. + Proficiency in integrating with network management and monitoring platforms. + Excellent documentation skills for network architectures and communication protocols. + Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance in accordance with agency requirements. Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $180,000.00 to $194,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
