Job details The Network Administrator reports directly to the President. This position manages the design, installation, ongoing analysis, administration, and/or control of the company's network infrastructure. Work includes the design, engineering, programming, monitoring, and maintenance of wide area or local area networks or comparable transmission netw ... orks to meet user needs. Leads the development of appropriate capacity planning, operations monitoring, failover systems, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans. Provides leadership, strategy, and oversight for the network operations including operational and managerial responsibility for company network resources including wired, wireless, and connectivity to external communications resources, including public cloud networking. Serves as the company representative to key industry policy and advisory committees and other industry groups and committees. Collaborates with other company team members to ensure seamless business execution, reinforce positive morale, and uphold company values.

The network administrator utilizes and applies a variety of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with key company stakeholders, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications. Provides leadership and accountability for developing, implementing, and monitoring a strategic, comprehensive security strategy for the company and public cloud network infrastructure, including switches, wireless network and firewalls. Manages the information security operational program that contains administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect company's information assets. Documents, provides direction for the mitigation of incidents involving company's network infrastructure.

Manages and provides technical leadership for the entirety of the company's network infrastructure and information security projects. Manages and provides leadership in the administration of the network infrastructure and information security and privacy program strategy and governance. Identifies process improvement opportunities and develop subsequent plans of action to resolve gaps with minimal management intervention. Responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and overseeing new technology industry standards within the organization and making operational recommendations based upon changing industry compliance and security standards.

Responsibilities:
Design and Infrastructure:
Develop systems and/or network configurations, including hardware, software, and integration requirements;
Plan, design, and engineering of assigned networks;
Determine network architecture, topology, and transmission media appropriate for the installation;
Develop/recommend network standards and protocols;
Design networked facilities;
Develop process and procedure design and project management for network infrastructure including managing scope, schedule, coordination of company and vendor resources, project communication, and risk management.
Responsible for the development, operations, maintenance, and protection of the company?s network resources to meet the mission and vision of the company.

Network Administration
Install, configure, maintain, and support network equipment and network operating systems (e.g., routers, bridges, servers, switches, and/or port selectors);
Troubleshoot network problems, referring to vendor or technicians as appropriate;
Provide (or order) network connectivity, ensuring appropriate integration of data, voice, and video networks;
Conduct network tests;
Recommend and modify network configuration to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness;
Recommend network database policies and procedures;
Monitor network database integrity.

Network Maintenance and Support
Ensure that the installed network is fully operational and appropriately integrated for access with other systems
Install, upgrade, and maintain network software and related hardware and maintain documentation;
Oversee compliance with industry standards;
Determine appropriate transmission media requirements for voice, data, and video applications;
Act as a liaison with product vendors;
Configure network and/or third party software application programs to provide improved response time, quality, or cost effectiveness and reliability;
Perform file conversions and system backups;
Develop interface programs;
Ensure adequate inventory of network supplies

Analysis/Performance Monitoring
Analyze and monitor network activity to ensure optimal network operation.
Monitor network traffic, usage, and performance;
Run diagnostics to forecast performance thresholds;
Perform analysis of network efficiency and routing of traffic, troubleshoot failures and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken
Maintain signal quality performance standards in line with regulatory and company requirements

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, handle and carry objects up to 50 pounds.
Must possess ability to work in small confined spaces.
This work may be performed in outside environmental conditions as needed with exposure to extreme cold and heat. Must possess the ability to work in all types of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience
Experience leading teams and/or staff in a collaborative role
Experience working within the internet service provider or similar industry.

Must possess and maintain a current valid state driver?s license and have a clean driving record at all times. In addition, participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System will be required.
Proven experience as network administrator or similar position
Experience implementing operational procedures and policies
Demonstrated ability to conduct research and present written and oral briefings
Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
Knowledge of network architecture, configuration, protocols, and interconnectivity requirements for internal/external information transmission.
Proven ability to use engineering techniques in the design of network and transmission systems.
Proven ability to interpret data on system usage and develop engineering specifications to support changing service levels.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply broad regulatory standards and technical specifications to assignments.
Knowledge of network design, topology, systems interface, and protocols to meet support requirements.
Ability to use specified software application packages and query, utility, or report generation features and database systems.
Demonstrated ability to install network subsystems and to modify local, customized software programs/features
Demonstrated ability to interpret variance reports and resolve connectivity, traffic, and congestion problems as they impact services provided.
