Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Therapist, Wage
Responsible for collecting interpreting and reviewing clinical data. Participates in the development of the plan of care and provides medically prescribed respiratory therapy services to Health System patients. Does not work independently in the critical care areas. + Assesses the patient’s respiratory care needs and develops/evaluates a therapeutic/diagnostic plan. + Performs respiratory therapy/diagnostic procedures according to established guidelines. + Documents patient care according to professional standards and departmental guidelines. + Accurately communicates patient responses to respiratory therapy interventions/diagnostic procedures and recommends need for modification of patient care plan. + Performs equipment quality control. + Participates in respiratory therapy professional activities and continuing education. + In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Position Compensation Range: $30.13 - $48.21 Hourly MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy required Experience: None required. Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required except for new grads who must obtain. Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT/NBRC) within. three months of employment. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. NBRC Specialty credential – Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Sleep Disorders Specialty (SDS)/Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) – for area of primary practice within the University Medical Center Sleep Disorders or Pulmonary Function Centers required within 18 months of employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling and reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Proficient communication, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 – 50lbs; May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. _The_ _University of Virginia is an equal opportunity employer.
