Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. Neonatal Outreach Educator-Part-time - RSD/Outreach Education Grant
Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Collaborates with the Regional Systems Developer in conducting educational needs assessments within facilities spanning the region.Plans and conducts Neonatal assessment and stabilization courses.Plans and conducts Neonatal programming and drills.Leads emergency Neonatal Resuscitation simulation exercises.Serves as an educational resource for MRMC newborn nursery, intermediate, and neonatal unit staff.Assists the OB Outreach Instructor in educational programs and drills as needed.Attends and participates in local, regional, and statewide birth outcomes meetings/initiatives as designated by the Regional Systems Developer.Collects transport and delivery data for perinatal regionalization data bases.Assists with conducting neonatal and maternal transport patient updates and communication to referring hospitals and physicians within the region as needed.Assists with the design and implementation of alternative educational offerings including on-line modules, videoconferences, webinars, and recorded programs.Assists in the provision of updates related to neonatal guidelines and recommendations.Maintains clinical competency of current neonatal practices. This is achieved by a minimal bi-weekly clinical component.Participation in daily operations of Perinatal Systems Outreach:
Submits reports and information as requestedProvides financial information regarding educational planning to RSD for grant application and budgetary purposes.Maintains programmatic records for courses conducted.Demonstrates initiative, creativity, flexibility, and team participation to meet educational goals and contractual requirements.Participates in monthly Perinatal Outreach staff meetings
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 3-5 years’ experience in maternal and child health services. Recent experience preferred.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Qualifications/Education/Training)
Registered Nurse, Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and STABLE “Instructor” status or the ability to obtain and maintain “Instructor” status upon hire is required. Ability to prepare and conduct other neonatal related courses as needed.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
RN Licensure. Certification in maternal/child health area preferred
