NDE Level II Technician
This position is designed for an experienced nondestructive examination (NDE) technician specializing in Ultrasonic Testing (UT) methods, including conventional UT, automated UT, and exposure to advanced UT techniques such as guided wave testing and pulsed eddy current. The role will lead NDE for API piping projects, with an expectation to develop advanced UT expertise and contribute to final report deliverables, including quality report photos, preliminary visual inspections, isometric drawings, data entry, and job form completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, a commitment to safety, a desire to grow their UT expertise, and the ability to maintain strong working relationships with clients and team members. This is a field-based role requiring significant travel and offering opportunities to work on diverse inspection projects across the oil and gas industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret NDT requirements, codes, and standards as required by contract, with a focus on UT methods for piping inspections. Lead and perform Ultrasonic Testing (UT), including conventional UT, automated UT, and advanced UT techniques, ensuring high-quality data collection and processing in accordance with customer procedures. Support final report deliverables by taking quality report photos, conducting preliminary visual inspections, creating isometric drawings, performing data entry, and completing job forms. Drive safely in oil and gas facilities and field sites. Demonstrate proficiency with standard computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Maintain positive relationships with clients, facilities, and coworkers, promoting a collaborative and professional attitude. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean driving record. Pass DISA background, drug, and alcohol screening. Hold a current driver’s license from state of residence. Be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs. Be willing to travel up to 75% or more.Required Qualifications & Education
Must be able to pass certification standards for UT methods. Demonstrated experience in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), with preference for candidates with exposure to advanced UT methods (e.g., automated UT, guided wave testing, or pulsed eddy current). Additional certifications or experience in Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), or Leak Testing/Vacuum Box Testing (LT/BT) are considered a bonus but not required. Certifications in guided wave testing, Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC), AMMFL, ACFM, SLOFEC, or drone inspection experience are a plus. Passport is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel. TWIC Card. Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Trained in OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30. Current respirator fit test. Current CPR & First Aid certification.
