Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant

Marsh is seeking candidates for the position of Natural Catastrophe Risk Consultant. This role will be based in our Brisbane office.  This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

What can you expect?

An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic engineering graduate with strong numerical and problem-solving skills with 1-3 years’ experience to develop their risk consulting career in our Property Risk Consulting practice. Reporting to the Head of Natural Catastrophe Risk in the Pacific Region, you will use your technical and analytical skills to assist in the development of practical solutions to help manage our client's risks.

The services offered by the Property Risk Consulting practice are focused on natural catastrophe modelling and risk engineering. Modelling utilises statistical methodologies and engineering fundamentals to conduct risk analysis and risk management activities to support our clients in improving their resilience against natural perils.

We will count on you to:

Assist in the development of practical solutions to critically assess our client's natural hazard and property risks, including researching, collating and analysing data relating to natural catastrophes and other insurable property risks

Process data into formats using Excel, GIS, PowerBI, etc.

Collate findings and analysis into professional reports and presentations

Work closely with the team to develop consistent, innovative and sustainable approaches to the delivery of natural hazard risk consulting projects for existing and prospective clients

Adhere to all established standard operating procedures and maintaining accurate records for each project while keeping within assigned budgets.

What you need to have:

Degree in Engineering related subject or a related discipline.

1 to 3 years of experience, with prior risk management or risk engineering experience advantageous

Experience collecting, manipulating and analysing large data sets

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with proprietary software applications.

Experience with GIS platforms is beneficial

Good problem-solving skills and proactive attitude

Commitment to providing high-level client service

Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication skills
