National Commodity Leader

We do this by being deeply knowledgeable, fully capable, and always dependable, and our associates are the driving force behind this commitment. **Job Summary** Responsible for developing and executing national supplier strategies and subsequent purchasing execution for assigned categories. **Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities** + Manages a team of Regional Commodity Leaders tasked with executing regional/district strategy. + Develops national commodity strategies and ensures execution at the regional/district level including educating the field on how products work, what products do we want to sell, and positioning our sales associates to sell product with the highest profitability. + Develops and leads top supplier strategic relationships and program development including negotiating national and cross-regional costs to ensure White Cap is aligned with suppliers and the correct products. + Communicates local/regional market direction and competitive intel to field, pricing, category management and external suppliers. + Ensures national effective product performance; profitability, product penetration, product mix and inventory turns. + Creates necessary supply chain solutions to allow for more effective purchasing and profitability (Reloads/Vendor Managed Inventory). + Partners with Field Leaders to develop custom programs and special buys. + Drives new product introduction to the field and provides education of commodity products to the field. **Nature and Scope** + Solutions require analysis and investigation. + Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors. + Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff. **Work Environment** + Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. + Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. + Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. **Education and Experience** + Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification.
