Minimum Requirements (All Levels)
BS degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) Mid-Level: ~5–8 years of related experience Senior: ~8–10 years of related experience Lead: 10+ years of related experience with proven progression into leadership roles Hands-on experience designing, validating, operating, and maintaining configurations for large-scale systemsMid-Level NAS Configuration Specialist (~5–8 years)
Support configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and audits for NAS systems Document and maintain configuration baselines for both deployed and planned systems Assist in developing and executing configuration validation plans Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure configuration changes meet technical and operational requirements Provide technical input to improve configuration processes and toolsSenior NAS Configuration Specialist (~8–10 years)
Lead configuration planning and execution for multiple NAS programs Oversee configuration audits, discrepancy resolution, and compliance reporting Collaborate with FAA stakeholders to align configuration documentation and processes with operational needs Mentor junior staff in configuration best practices and standards Ensure readiness for deployment through rigorous configuration validation and documentation controlNAS Configuration Lead / SME (10+ years)
Direct configuration management strategy and implementation for large FAA programs (1,000+ personnel impact) Lead teams of 20+ configuration specialists, engineers, and technical support staff Oversee configuration processes across the entire system lifecycle—from design through operational sustainment Serve as the principal advisor to FAA leadership on configuration matters, ensuring mission readiness and compliance Drive improvements to configuration management frameworks, tools, and methodologiesPreferred Qualifications
Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience Familiarity with FAA’s NAS Configuration Management policies and tools Experience with enterprise-level CM tools such as DOORS, ClearCase, or equivalent Proven success managing multi-site, cross-functional teamsSecurity Clearance Requirement:
