NA Propulsion Systems Plant Quality Manager – PQM (Project Quality Manager) & QPEL (Quality Plant Engineering Leader)

Position Overview

This managerial role is responsible for leading and coordinating both the Project Quality Managers (PQM) and the Quality Plant Engineering Leaders (QPEL) within the Propulsion Systems Plant in North America. The position ensures alignment with Stellantis quality standards, project execution, and plant performance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Quality Manager (PQM) Leadership:

Lead the Project Quality team for North American Propulsion Systems (PS) products, including launch task forces. Define staffing needs based on the North American Engineering Product Plan, PS footprint, and headcount targets. Oversee recruitment, internal mobility, career development, and training plans for team members. Provide leadership and accountability across the full project scope, including engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing quality deliverables. Ensure the deployment of Stellantis and PS Project Quality Management processes and tools; promote local implementation and contribute to continuous improvement through lessons learned. Foster strong cross-functional relationships with PRS, ENG, CCLP, CX NA, After-Sales, Plants, and Purchasing teams. Act as the primary interface with the local PRSQ representative.

Quality Plant Engineering Leader- QPEL:

Manage the QPEL PRS team and support the Quality Plant Engineering Manager in decision-making. Ensure timely execution of pre-analysis activities and define containment or alternative solutions for customer issues. Maintain and develop the technical competencies of the team. Lead the management of quality KPIs, APQP processes, technical support, and the robustness of the plant monitoring plan. Support the four key pillars of QPEL responsibilities: Represent the metafunction within the plant. Participate in warranty claim investigations. Contribute to the resolution of internal plant quality issues. Ensure successful new part launches.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology  Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management or core team leadership within the automotive industry Previous experience in engineering, vehicle/mechanical plant operations, or project teams Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, adaptable from executive-level meetings to shop floor discussions Rigorous, pragmatic, and results oriented Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and team management capabilities Ability to manage complex situations with strong organizational and collaborative skills Excellent synthesis and communication abilities Proficient in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., APQP, FMEA, 8D, etc.)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 8 years of experience in Automotive quality in the areas of product design and/or manufacturing (preferred combination of both) Minimum of 5 years of experience applying problem solving methodologies; alternatively, Kepner-Tregoe Green Belt certification or other acceptable problem-solving certification (DMAIC or DFSS for example) Experience in automotive warranty analytics or key performance indicators Strong leadership skills in the areas of project management and delegation Strong leadership skills in the area of communication for reporting to adjacent working groups
