No County Albany Street Address 1220 Washington Avenue Building 24 City Albany State NY Zip Code 12226 Duties Description Forensic Multimedia Support: Perform and assist the technical and scientific duties for all forensic analysis in the Forensic Video Multimedia Services Unit (FVMSU). Perform and assist analysis/examination of analog and digital multimedia evidence in the multimedia lab environment and perform and assist comparative analysis/examination of analog and digital multimedia evidence. Working knowledge and expertise with applications from Avid Technologies, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar photo and video editing software. Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge of forensic software applications such as Amped FIVE, A-DAPT/FilterGraph, Magnet Forensics, Salient Sciences, Axon Investigate, 3D imaging software such as Leica Geosystems, Cloud Compare, and Auto Desk applications. In addition, fundamental concepts of analog and digital recording devices and the internal architecture of these systems are critical to the success of this position. Forensic Multimedia Field Support: Perform and assist video documentation of criminal and civil events throughout the state, perform and assist on-scene analog and digital multimedia extractions, and perform and assist in complex analytical testing in the context of 3D Photogrammetry/Reverse Projection examinations. Court Exhibits: Produce forensically sound multimedia court exhibits used in conjunction with multimedia testimony in criminal and civil court trials.Court Testimony: Provide expert court testimony regarding the validity of analyses performed by the FVMSU, processes used when analyzing analog and digital multimedia evidence, and the relation of that multimedia evidence to the overall investigation. Review Processing: Review examinations and analyses completed by other Multimedia Forensic Analysts according to the report review guidelines to ensure that quality assurance standards are met, and to ensure appropriate forensic steps have been followed for those that are deemed to contain evidentiary value.Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to federal, state, and local law enforcement personnel during the acquisition of multimedia analog and digital evidence from crime scenes and other technical forensic multimedia processes in the field.Professional Development: Attend conferences, seminars, and training to learn and evaluate new technologies and techniques in the forensic and multimedia fields.Perform such other duties as directed by the Director of Forensic Video/Multimedia Services Unit. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree or higher in public communications, multimedia technology, computer science, graphics design, animations, or a related technology field and two (2) years of work experience in a related video, audio, imaging, computer, graphics, and/or animation.ORA Bachelor’s degree or higher in public communications, multimedia technology, computer science, graphics design, animations, or a related technology field and completion of a 2-year traineeship.NOTE: A Masters’ Degree may substitute for one additional year of experience.Minimum qualifications must be met by the closing date of the posting.
