DHI Communities is currently looking for a Multifamily-Construction Director. The right candidate will be responsible for all regional construction activity, including oversight of project management and field personnel while leading interaction with Development, Design, Purchasing, and Property Management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise all regional construction personnel and activity Ensure all construction is performed according to code, drawings, contracted scope specifications Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and retention of project management and field personnel Mitigate cost risk by providing estimates during land acquisition due diligence and pre-construction Review drawings to optimize design and suggest value engineering opportunities Advise Project Managers in bidding, buy-out, and subcontractor selections Collaborate with Purchasing for optimal approach to estimating, bidding, buy-out to maximize profit Oversee Project Managers in ongoing budget maintenance including formal monthly budget review Advise Project Managers regarding supplementing or replacing non-performing subcontractors Interact with Scheduling Team and Project Managers to create reasonable and accurate baseline schedules, then monitor and drive performance to minimize construction timelines Visit construction sites regularly to evaluate overall construction performance Ensure compliance with expectations on Quality Control, Safety, SWPPP, and FHA/ADA guidelines Ensure smooth and timely turn-over of units and amenities to Property Management Evaluate and approve change orders as needed Handle escalated issues in design, field execution, and subcontractor performance Define contract scopes to ensure completeness and accuracy Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Ability to travel overnightSupervisory Responsibilities
