Job Overview Work as part of a team undertaking the painting programme and associated works. Mitie are sourcing a key role to support the Minor Works Team. The team currently carry out programmed renovation and repair of living, office and technical accommodation. The ideal candidate would have significant practical experience in building maintenance or related discipline including a good understanding of basic carpentry, plastering, tiling and painting among other key skills linked to successful refurbishment and upgrading of the MOD estate. The candidate must have a valid and transferable car driving licence and be prepared to work towards becoming a skilled Carpenter

 

Main Duties

1. Work as part of team in all works associated in the seasonal painting of the MOD establishment as per the painting programme.

2. Ensure materials for works are checked for suitability, and correctly booked in and out of stores (reporting any defects or damage).

3. Produce a quality end produce first time with no re work required.

4. Organise work to minimise lost time or non-productive time.

5. Ensure progress is maintained for all works. Document and record any faults from inspections and work delays, ensuring any unforeseen changes are bought to your Line Managers attention

6. Ensure that labour records are completed accurately (correct job Nr's are entered), all overtime is sanctioned by the Line Manager. Labour records and overtime sheets are submitted on the day required.

7. Due to the nature of Carpentry, there may be times when work cannot progress due to circumstances beyond your control. During these times, you will be tasked to carry out works deemed to be within your capabilities.

8. Carry out any other duties as directed by the management team.

Qualifications /

 

Training · Educated to GCSE or equivalent. 

 Working towards passing CITB or IOSH H & S test. ·

To have attained, or be working towards NVQ or equivalent in painting discipline.

Knowledge &

Experience

 

 

 Experience of painting. 

 Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation. 

Experience of working abroad. · Experience of an MOD environment.

Skills &

Abilities

 

 Full driving license.

Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
