MS Database Administrator (Maximo Database Administrator)

Maximo Database Administrator
Contract Length: 7 months with possibility of extension
Location: Remote, with possible onsite meetings in the DMV area. 

Responsibilities:  Database Administration and Maintenance on Oracle 12c, Oracle18 and SQL databases. Monitor, maintain, and optimize Maximo and asset management system databases. Maintain and enhance data archiving. Manage database configuration and security settings, ensuring compliance with company IT and cybersecurity standards. Perform patch management and upgrades of Maximo and asset management systems database servers, ensuring compatibility with application upgrades. Performance tuning of reporting tools and integrations and optimization of database queries Analyze database performance metrics and resolve performance bottlenecks. Maintain data integrity by implementing and enforcing data quality, validation, and consistency policies. Develop and implement procedures for archiving Maximo data to maintain manageable database sizes. Support data migration and conversion efforts during Maximo upgrades or integration projects. Administer and maintain databases supporting Maximo-integrated applications, including PeopleSoft/ERP, Windchill, FleetWatch, PPG, Optram, and MicrosoftPower Platform. Perform data mapping and data conversion for Maximo enhancement and integration. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in integrated systems to ensure smooth operations across workflows. Support the Maximo Integration Framework (MIF), including managing database connections and ensuring data exchange integrity. Implement robust database security policies, including user and eternal system access controls, encryption, and activity monitoring. Conduct regular security audits and address vulnerabilities in collaboration with company cybersecurity teams. Collaborate with application administrators and developers to support database-related aspects of Maximo customizations and workflows. Provide database expertise during Maximo upgrades, patching, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and disruptions. Participate in testing and validating new Maximo configurations, modules or enhancements to ensure database compatibility. Provide both functional and technical Maximo support and process improvement for Maximo 7.6 and or higher related to data Develop, implement, and maintain Maximo integrations with systems such as mileage processing, RPM, and PeopleSoft/ERP, ensuring seamless data flow, integrity, and performance optimization to ensure accurate and efficient data flow Develop and optimize advanced Maximo data migration scripts during system upgrades to ensure smooth transitions, minimize downtime, and maintain data integrity while coordinating with stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to business operations. Set up and maintain database monitoring tools to identify and resolve issues proactively. Maintain detailed documentation of database architecture, configurations, processes, and procedures. Develop and update knowledge base articles to assist with troubleshooting and support tasks. Work closely with Maximo and other asset management application teams and IT support and operations teams to align database support with business objectives while serving as the Maximo SME Providing stakeholder guidance and recommendations while participating in cross functional meeting to support continuous improvement of integrated systems. Participating in continuous improvement and innovation of Maximo database operations and systems. Administer, monitor, optimize and maintain Maximo databases and their performance in both cloud and on-prem environments. Ensure the integration of Maximo databases with external cloud-based and on-prem systems, maintaining robust connections and data integrity for systems like PeopleSoft/ERP, Windchill, and Microsoft Power Platform. Manage and troubleshoot database connectivity for Maximo and external systems in both cloud and on-prem environments. Collaborate with cloud service providers and internal IT teams to configure and optimize Maximo's cloud-based database infrastructure, balancing cost, performance, and security. Develop and implement disaster recovery and backup strategies for Maximum Databases. Support Maximo database migrations to the cloud. Education and Certification Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Experience: At least 5–7 years of hands-on experience with IBM Maximo Asset Management database hosted in a cloud environment in a complex information systems and data processing management in a large organization. Maximo application and database configuration, customization, upgrades, patches, and integrations hosted on-premise and in a cloud environment. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with Maximo 7.6 or higher, including Transportation add-on preferred, Asset Configuration Manager, and Mobile Experience. Demonstrated expertise in Maximo table structure, metadata, and developing migration scripts for Maximo upgrades. Experience automating Maximo's administrative tasks, such as error handling. Technical Skills: Cloud Platform Expertise with Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Knowledge of cloud-native database services like Azure SQL Database, CosmosDB, or Oracle Autonomous Database. Database Management in the Cloud including deploying, configuring, managing databases, autoscaling, and backup/recovery. Performance tuning and monitoring cloud databases using AzureMonitor, SQL Analytics, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring, or OracleAutonomous Database Performance Hub. Cost Optimization Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or cloud-native Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for database provisioning and management. Knowledge of cloud database APIs and scripting languages (e.g., Python,PowerShell) for task automation. Proficiency with writing, enhancing and maintaining Oracle scripts for data integration. Expert knowledge of Maximo, WebSphere, and Oracle architectures. Extensive experience with Oracle Development and administration, including Oracle 18c and advanced features such as Data Guard, Active Data Guard, RAC,Golden Gate, and application continuity. Experience with Database High Availability (HA) concepts leveraging OracleExadata and implementing HA and Disaster Recovery solutions. Familiarity with tools like Azure Auto-Failover Groups and Oracle Data Guard for cloud environments. Knowledge of SQL database technology including PL/SQL for database scripting and automation. Advanced level of Linux usage and administration. Experience with enterprise systems related to transit operations, such as GOTRS,RPM, PeopleSoft/ERP, Optram, InspectTech, Remstar/PPG and FleetWatch. Expertise in using and integrating TRM Rules Manager within Maximo. Experience with Microsoft Power Platform and integration with databases. Proven experience developing data migration scripts and archiving strategies for Maximo upgrades while ensuring data integrity, consistency, and performance across Maximum Databases and integrated systems. Experience migrating on-premises databases to the cloud using tools like Azure Database Migration Service, or Oracle GoldenGate. Experience with cloud-native monitoring and troubleshooting tools to ensure database reliability and performance. Familiarity with database-specific cloud monitoring systems, such as Azure SQL Insights, or Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Preferred Experience: Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified Deployment Professional – MaximoAsset Management or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) 18 or higher, AzureDatabase Administrator Associate (preferred). Experience in a large transit organization preferred.
