Job Title: MRO Clerk
Job Description
The MRO Clerk is responsible for managing the purchase and flow of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment to support production. This role includes sourcing and evaluating vendors, negotiating pricing, entering and tracking purchase orders, maintaining the tool crib, receiving materials, and ensuring inventory accuracy. The MRO Clerk works closely with production, accounting, and management to ensure timely procurement, resolve discrepancies, and maintain efficient operations. This role is essential to minimizing downtime and optimizing supply chain performance.
Responsibilities
Manage the purchase and flow of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.Source and evaluate vendors to ensure reliable supplier relationships.Negotiate pricing and obtain competitive quotes to prevent production delays.Enter and track purchase orders in the ERP system (INFOR preferred).Monitor inventory levels and receive materials, ensuring deliveries match purchase orders.Maintain the tool crib and organize documentation to facilitate smooth procurement.Communicate effectively with vendors and internal teams regarding pricing, lead times, and critical needs.Identify opportunities for cost savings through negotiation and efficient ordering strategies.Quickly address and expedite urgent orders to prevent production interruptions.Ensure accurate data entry, paperwork validation, and documentation maintenance.Essential Skills
Proficiency in purchasing and vendor management.Experience with ERP/MRP systems, especially INFOR.Strong inventory management and reconciliation skills.Excellent organization and time management abilities.Professional communication skills.Expertise in negotiation and cost saving.Problem-solving and prioritization capabilities.High attention to detail.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (preferred).1–3 years of experience in purchasing or inventory management.Strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently or within a team.Capability to research materials, tools, or new vendors efficiently.Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility and requires on-site presence. It is a fast-paced, production-driven environment, collaborating closely with Production, Accounting, and Management. The position involves regular interaction with external vendors and requires time both at a desk for ERP/data entry and in the tool crib/receiving area. The role holds a high level of responsibility for preventing material-related production delays. The hours are flexible, generally starting between 7-8 AM, with an 8-hour workday including a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Employees have the flexibility to work through lunch to leave earlier or take longer lunch breaks occasionally.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.50 - $27.00/hr.
