MRI Technologist

Responsible for performing routine to complex diagnostic and therapeutic technical procedures in the MRI department under the direction of a physician.
+ Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas.
+ Ensures proper safety standards are met.
+ Operates required equipment necessary to produce scans using established guidelines and MRI protocols.
+ Properly identifies and explains procedure to patient.
+ Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects media under the direction of a physician.
+ Prepares and positions patient for procedure by using established MRI protocols to achieve the highest quality image.
+ Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary.
+ Assists in maintaining supply inventory.
+ In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Position Compensation Range: $33.27 - $53.23 Hourly
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
**Education:**
• Experienced candidate(s) should have completed MRI training/competency via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
• Inexperienced candidate(s) at a minimum, must be certified in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Sonography, or Vascular Sonography.
• Associate’s Degree preferred, but not required.
**Experience:** MRI experience preferred but not required.
**Licensure:**
• Experienced candidate(s) must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
• Inexperienced candidate(s) must be registered in X-Ray, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy by one or more of the following agencies: “ARRT - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; ARDMS – The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, or NMTCB – The Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.”
• MRI Certification via the ARRT or ARMRIT must be successfully completed within 9 months of hire.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
