Job Summary

\n

The MRI Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs MRI procedures on patients. These are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nPerforms high-quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging by following established standards and procedures.\nUtilizes AIDET to communicate with patients. Identifies patient service needs, ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family about the test to be performed. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.\nPrepare the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.\nProtects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies. Uses proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.\nMaintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment operation. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.\nEnsures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.\nObtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, and procedures.\nMaintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.\n\n

\n\nAble to perform high quality MRI procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.\nAble to explain the procedure and put patients at ease.\nProvide services promptly, accurately, and cost-efficiently, following System and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.\nAble to perform tasks autonomously without need for routine oversight.\nAble to stay calm and helpful during stress and take reasonable steps to resolve issues.\nAble to effectively administer first aid and use emergency cart.\nEnsure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.\nDemonstrates and maintains current knowledge, education, and skills for appropriate care of newborns, pediatric, young adults, adults, and geriatrics.\nAble to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.\nAble to take call, if required.\n\n

QUALIFICATIONS

\n\nEDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent\nEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -\nRequirements: Experience with anesthesia, pacemakers, other implants; 1 year of acute care MRI experience (preferred)\n\n

American Reg MRI Tech (ARMRIT), ARRT-MR Magnetic Res Imaging (ARRT-MR), ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT(MR) or Radiography ARRT(R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).
