MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR. This job is located in an Army National Guard organization. Its purpose is to operate and perform operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles to transport personnel, supplies, materials or equipment. Responsibilities As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR,WG-5703-7, you will: Operates platform trucks, van trucks, dump trucks, stake trucks, fuel trucks or cargo vans, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds to transport personnel; pick up and deliver supplies, materials or equipment; and tow equipment to various locations and work sites. Incumbent operates passenger buses or passenger ambulance regardless of gross vehicle weight. These vehicles are usually equipped with air brakes. Vehicles are driven over public roads at highway speeds under all traffic and driving conditions. Assures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured. Performs operator maintenance on vehicles. Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of material. Completes log books, maintenance records, reports, and other transportation documents for accurate accounting. May identify, inspect, and segregate equipment or material as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs. May perform warehouse work to include issuing receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and materials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking material; and repairing or replacing items on equipment. May select storehouse locations within the general warehousing plan. Operates electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-3 thru E- 5 Compatible Military Assignments: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, jeeps, and station wagons which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight up to 4,500 kilograms (10,000 pounds). Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to operate and perform operator maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstrating ability to operate truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience operating vehicles over a variety of roads including interstate highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in complicated traffic situations. Education You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
