Job Description
The Motor Assessor reports to the Head of Claims (Short- Term Insurance).They are responsible for assessing damage to motor vehicles following an accident. They are responsible for determining the cost of repairs, managing the repairs process, analyzing vehicle conditions and liaising with brokers, clients, motor dealers and repair shops.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the authorization of suitably costed repair estimates in line with agreed rates, methods, and timings. Where initial estimated costs cannot be agreed, negotiate revised costs and methods in the best interest of the customer. Appoint repairers according to the Old Mutual Short-Term Insurance Botswana (OMSTIB) preferred Motor Body repairer panel.
Conduct constant work in progress audits at repairers to manage and check whether repair allowances are being followed through by the appointed repairer.
Maintain average repair cost, total cost of claim, repair cost against sum insured value, total cost against sum insured value, average repair cost and parts ratio %.
Support the reduction of vehicle off road time by challenging methods and processes to ensure customer inconvenience is minimized.
Promote the fair treatment of customers in decisions and actions undertaken.
Take accountability for decisions made and always ensure any action taken is followed through with effective communication to the relevant stakeholders and proactiveness in terms of OMSTIB Service Delivery standards
Ensure adherence to the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policy.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in partnership agreements and ensure adherence to those partnership agreements. Interact frequently with colleagues, brokers, motor repairers, and parts supplier. Ensure SLAs are observed and that all assessment reports are completed within timeframes stipulated in service level agreements.
Collaborate with senior management in implementing initiatives related to product development, processes, policy, and strategy to improve the OMSTIB motor book.
Qualifications and experience required
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or National Craft Certificate (NCC) in panel beating/Auto mechanics.
Demonstrated ability and level of competency as a Vehicle Damage Assessor, with at least 2 years’ experience as motor assessor.
Audatex/Abuntex certification
