Why does this role exist?
We’re hiring a Motion Designer to produce product explainer and UI animation assets that clearly demonstrate product interactions and workflows. This role exists to scale the studio’s capacity to deliver consistent, high-quality UI-focused animations (mouse clicks, micro-interactions, on-screen flows) while allowing the creative and client-facing teams to focus on strategy and client relationships. The Motion Designer will work closely with producers and designers to execute animations that match client specs, brand guidelines, and project timelines.
The Impact you’ll makeCore motion design\nCreate UI-focused explainer animations in After Effects that showcase product flows, mouse clicks, and interface interactions.\nProduce clean, polished micro-interactions and transitions that read clearly at typical video sizes.\nExport and deliver final comps optimized for client use (mp4/web, layered files as required).\nUI & asset preparation\nImport and work from Figma files to recreate UI elements and layouts for animation.\nEdit and create vector assets in Adobe Illustrator when needed for motion-ready elements.\nOrganize layered files and source assets for efficient handoffs and future edits.\nCollaboration & workflow\nCoordinate with creative producers and designers via Slack and Notion to clarify specs, timelines, and feedback.\nFollow project briefs, style guides, and internal review processes to ensure consistency and quality.\nMaintain version control and clear file naming in shared drives.\nQuality control & iteration\nImplement feedback from internal reviews and iterate quickly to meet delivery deadlines.\nEnsure animations are technically clean (timing, easing, continuity) and conform to client UX expectations.\nPrepare short demo clips and internal review assets for stakeholder sign-off.\nProcess improvement (ongoing)\nContribute templates, presets, and best practices to speed production of recurrent UI animations.\nSuggest workflow improvements for integrating Figma → Illustrator → After Effects pipelines.\n
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequired:\nProven portfolio of product/UI explainer animations (no character animation required) showing use of mouse clicks and UI interactions.\nExpert-level After Effects skills (compositing, keyframing, easing, expressions/basic scripting).\nProficient in Figma for working from UI files and Adobe Illustrator for vector asset prep.\nAbility to work full-time Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM CST (40 hrs/week).\nComfortable working as a backend contributor (not client-facing) and collaborating via Slack and Notion.\nWFH Set-Up:\nComputer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.\nInternet speed of at least 40MBPS\nHeadset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam\nBack-up computer and internet connection\nQuiet, dedicated workspace at home\n\n\nYour Superpowers:\n\nTechnical: \nStrong motion design fundamentals: timing, easing, anticipation, and clarity for UI motion.\nAfter Effects mastery and efficient workflow habits (precomps, expressions, render/export best practices).\nComfortable extracting and adapting assets from Figma and Illustrator for animation pipelines.\nFamiliarity with asset organization, version control, and export optimizations for video.\n\n\n\nSoft\nDetail-oriented with strong visual communication and problem-solving skills.\nFast, responsive collaborator who accepts and implements feedback constructively.\nReliable, proactive, and organized with good time-management skills.\nTeam player mindset: supports producers/designers and improves processes.\n\n\nYou should apply if… \nYou enjoy creating clear, functional UI animations rather than character-driven pieces.\nYou prefer working behind the scenes and partnering closely with producers and designers.\nYou value consistency, polish, and delivering work on predictable timelines.\nYou’re comfortable working within tight briefs and iterating quickly based on internal feedback.\n\nWhat to expect...
