Responsibilities:
Responsible for specimen handling and processing, with a strong emphasis in nucleic acid extractions, following the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of testsCarries out day-to-day tasks including prepping for and executing nucleic acid extractionsIsolates nucleic acids using manual methods and/or automated instrumentation ensuring the delivery of high-quality purified samples for downstream assaysFollows written lab procedures for the correct handling and processing of samples in accordance with standards set forth in standard operating procedures (SOPs)Operates laboratory instruments and performs routine maintenance & procedural calibrationsMaintains projects and sample information, protocols, and experimental details through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)Assists in the orientation and training of new employeesPerforms quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate recordsMaintains records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimensAdheres to the laboratory’s quality assurance procedures including documenting all quality control activities, instrument and equipment verifications and preventive maintenancesIdentifies and documents problems that may adversely affect test performance and notifies the supervisor, assistant director(s) or directorDocuments all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical TechnologyPreferred Qualifications:
1 or more years laboratory experience1 or more years molecular laboratory experience1 or more years Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) experienceAdditional Job Standards:
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems Ability to work independently and within a team environment Comfortable handling biological specimensAbility to accurately identify specimensHigh level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to prioritize and thoroughly follow up on assigned tasksAble to lift up to 30 lbsAbility to work in collaborative, flexible work environmentAble to pass a standardized color blindness testThis is a great entry level opportunity to join an innovative laboratory and receive training that will help the individual grow in a career in the molecular diagnostics field!
**Pay-Range: $25.19- $30.00/hour
All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.
Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
