This is a full-time, exempt-level position
**Position Overview:**
As a Modernization Operational Technology (OT) Application Engineer, you will help advance the standardization and innovation of OT distributed control system (DCS) and manufacturing execution system (MES) applications across North America.
You will collaborate closely with on-site OT engineers, Process Automation (PA) engineers, and key business partners, including Global Technology (GT, ADM’s IT dept) and your global OT peers, to deliver reliable and scalable OT solutions that support modernization projects.
This position reports to the Modernization Program Manager and aligns directly with the Global OT Organization to maintain and promote global standards.
The Modernization Program is a company-wide initiative focused on modernizing strategic facilities through automation and optimization. By leveraging technology and our internal expertise, we aim to reduce unplanned downtime, enhance safety, improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and standardize processes across business units. This program is a key enabler of ADM’s digital transformation.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Help establish and maintain a global OT DCS/MES applications ecosystem
+ Partner with process automation and application owners to define and communicate DCS/MES architecture and procedure standards
+ Support the development and implementation of strategic direction for OT DCS/MES applications aligned with modernization goals and timelines
+ Partner with PA teams to ensure compliance with DCS/MES-related licensing
+ Gather and analyze application requirements from functional departments to identify challenges and propose efficient solutions
+ Follow OT project methodology standards and help drive adoption across teams
+ Coordinate application activities with OT and PA managers to minimize plant interruptions during upgrades, patching, and maintenance
+ Participate in vendor evaluations and contribute to technical planning to improve system productivity and efficiency
+ Manage third-party suppliers or contractors when applicable
+ Travel and on-call work may be required during commissioning and start-up activities
**Required Skills:**
+ Strong understanding of process automation and control applications, including HMI software such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Honeywell, Wonderware, Emerson DeltaV, or Valmet (NovaTech) D/3
+ Proven experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of DCS/MES applications
+ Ability to think ‘outside the box’
+ Effective communication skills, both conceptual and hands-on
+ Initiative and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional global teams
+ Strong documentation and organizational skills
+ Comfort managing multiple projects and adapting to changing priorities
+ Demonstrated commitment to delivering on goals and leading by example
+ Experience supporting 24/7 manufacturing or plant operations
**Required Qualifications:**
+ An associate degree in a technical discipline (computer science, engineering, or related field) or equivalent experience
+ 7+ years supporting enterprise-level technology operations and services, including managing the lifecycle and upgrades of network technologies
+ 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Technical experience with process automation systems such as Rockwell, Emerson DeltaV, or Valmet (NovaTech) D/3
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a technical discipline or related field
+ Experience with network technologies and architecture

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
