Our Opportunity
We are looking for a talented and experienced Modelling & Simulation Architect to join our innovative team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge modelling and simulation systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in simulation methodologies, software development, system architecture, and relevant domain knowledge, driving impactful solutions that shape the future of our technology. While this role has no direct reports, aspiring people managers are encouraged to apply.
Based in Belfast, you’ll travel quarterly to Templecombe. If located in Templecombe, there will be monthly visits tailored to the needs of the business. Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Create and bring to life high-fidelity simulation models and architectures that drive impactful applications
Partner closely with cross-functional teams to grasp their needs and transform them into powerful, effective simulation solutions
Develop and rigorously validate simulation algorithms and models to deliver unmatched accuracy and reliability
Perform in-depth system analysis and fine-tune performance to maximize simulation effectiveness and results
Seamlessly integrate simulation models with other systems and tools, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows
Lead with technical expertise and empower junior team members through mentoring and guidance
Keep abreast of the forefront of innovation by continuously exploring the latest advancements in modelling and simulation technologies and methodologies
Meticulously document every facet of the simulation system architecture and development processes to ensure clarity and knowledge sharing
About You

Essential:
Master’s and/ or batchelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated expertise in modelling and simulation, ideally within complex system environments
Proven in-depth knowledge of leading simulation tools and frameworks such as Simulink, Modelica, and others
Exceptional analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities
Honed communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across teams
Experienced mentor and leader, capable of guiding and inspiring team members to excel
While not essential, we’re especially eager to hear from people who bring these skills and qualities:
Expertise in programming languages like Python, C++, or MATLAB, empowering you to build sophisticated solutions with ease
Hands-on experience with real-time systems and distributed simulation architectures, driving high-performance and scalable models
Well-versed in industry standards and best practices, ensuring your work meets the highest quality benchmarks in modelling and simulation
Strong foundation in systems engineering and systems thinking methodologies, enabling holistic and innovative approaches to complex challenges
Specialised knowledge in key domains such as aerospace, defence, or robotics, positioning you at the forefront of cutting-edge technology
Proficient with simulation frameworks including Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High-Level Architecture (HLA), enhancing your capability to create interoperable and dynamic simulation environments

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
