Mobility Technician

Job Summary:


In support and collaboration with the WellStar policy and procedure: Nurse Driven Patient Mobility for Acute Care Patients (AC-83), the Mobility Technician is responsible for providing non-skilled support services to patients to assist with their mobility. This individual will assist the patients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning in the bed or chair. The Mobility Technician will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to facilitate safe mobilization of patients to preserve strength, mobility status, and functional independence. The type and extent of mobilization will be guided by the nurse GUAG assessment of mobility level in coordination with the therapy recommendations for nursing mobility.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Mobilizes patients according to pre-determined levels.
Documents in EMR according to guidelines.
Employs appropriate durable medical equipment (walker, gait belt) to assist in safe mobility.
Observes skin for signs of breakdown and reports to nurse.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

GED General or High School Diploma General-Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

BLS - Instructor or Basic Life Support

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:


Minimum 1 year Prior work experience in a health care setting providing direct patient care. Required or
Minimum 1 year Care Partner experience desirable Preferred

Basic knowledge of medical terminology Medium
Physical ability to lift, support and ambulate patients High
Physical ability to perform repeated bending, lifting and ascend/descend stairs High
