Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical)

We are currently looking for an experienced Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) to join our friendly team covering the Lancashire area. This role is working 48hrs week – fully flexible between Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17:00 and Saturday morning 07:30 - 12:00. This role is commutable from Salford, Preston, Blackpool, Blackburn, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Stockport, Warrington, Ashton-under-Lyne, St Helens, Chorley and the surrounding areas

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Readymix Production Manager, the role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) will have responsibility for inspection, maintenance and service of our Ready-mix Concrete Plants. As a member of the Maintenance team, you will provide PPM and breakdown response to the Ready-mix business delivering the Maintenance Strategy for your area of cover and best practice by driving a culture of continuous improvement.

As well as PPM, the Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) will respond to emergency and plant breakdowns in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment including conveyors, pneumatics as well as fabrication / welding plant and be responsible for ensuring assets are returned to production and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution.

The role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) will also be responsible for:

Owning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive mannerTaking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and PPMCoordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on siteParticipating in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminatedContributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experienceWelding and Fabricating to a good standardWorking with risk assessments and method statements and contributing to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair proceduresMaintaining and promoting Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures and challenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company proceduresUtilising the computerised maintenance management system and recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used and repairs carried out. Using application-based inspection schemes

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as a Mobile Fitter. Suitable candidates will have:

Recognised apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard)ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)Strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, pneumatics, drive systems – motors, belts, pumps, gearboxesFault-finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate actionAbility to remove and fit bearingsCapability to undertake emergency breakdown repairs and PPM in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipmentIT skills and be able to use PCs, common applications and company systemsCompetence in the use of application-based inspection schemesAbility to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordinglyKnowledge of site-specific SHE procedures and Safe Working Practices
