About this position Our goal as an agency is to provide flood control to the 8 parishes in our district. Your role is to maintain equipment and work to prepare the levees for high water events and annual levee inspections. Minimum Qualifications No experience or training is required. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: As a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, you will: + Operate wheel-type tractors (medium weight equipment) and mowers to mow grass on levee and battures + Makes minor repairs to equipment and performs maintenance necessary to keep equipment in good working order + Operate chain saws and hand tools to clear right of ways and debris + Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor As a Mobile Equipment Operator 2, you will: + Operates medium and heavy wheel type of tractors (90 horsepower) and 15' mowers to mow grass on levee and battures + Operates light trucks for hauling construction materials, equipment, supplies, parts, and personnel + Make minor adjustments and repairs to equipment + Operation of spray equipment and hand tools to destroy unwanted weeds and brush on the levee right of way + Perform other duties related to levee and equipment maintenance as assigned by foreman Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational Appointment Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2.
