This position is located in District 58, Unit 775 and reports directly to the Highway Foreman 2. Minimum Qualifications No experience or training is required. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: A current Class D Chauffeur's License will be required upon appointment. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, dozer, etc., as needed. + Operates skid steers, rollers, jet air patcher, 72-hp tractors with 15ft. bat wing mowers, and tractor mounted slope mower. + Installs and maintains temporary traffic control devices and serves as a flag person during traffic control operations. + Uses a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, jackhammer, demolition saw, chain saw, string trimmer, and pole saw. + Performs manual task such as pothole patching, manual cutting of bush and grass, ditch digging, cleaning buildings, assisting in mud jack operations, cutting trees, collecting litter, cleaning & repairing of asphaltic concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements as well as bridge decks, and other manual tasks as need to accomplish the department’s mission. + Performs minor repairs, services, preventative maintenance, and cleans equipment in accordance with operator’s manual and manufacture’s recommendations to keep equipment operating efficiently and safely. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1, 2, or 1/Heavy. A Class A, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for Mobile Equipment Operator 2 and 1/Heavy. Work Schedule:Work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday. Compensation: + Mobile Equipment Operator 1: Starting salary is $16.06/hour ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status. + Mobile Equipment Operator 2: Starting salary is $17.18/hour ; this job title receives Premium Pay in the amount of $1.00/hour for all hours worked. Additionally, a 10% base pay increase will be granted upon attainment of permanent status. + Mobile Equipment Operator 1/Heavy: Starting salary is $21.05/hour .
