This position is located in the District 08/0perations/Unit720 in Rapides. The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to able to perform duties many times without supervision or with minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structure training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required task. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: + Operate heavy equipment, as needed. + Performs various bridge maintenance functions such as repairing guardrail and cable barrier damage, building and repairing fence, replacing decayed and broken timber members, and forming, pouring, and finishing concrete. + Must be capable of interpreting data contained in various operator's manuals to ensure the limits and capabilities of the equipment operated are not exceeded. + Perform minor repairs, services, and cleans equipment in accordance with the operator manual and manufacturer's recommendations to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. + May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to, emergency/disaster support activities.
