Mobile Equipment Mechanic-Lead
Overview ***This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** Oversees the day-to-day execution of the vehicle maintenance shop. Leads a team of personnel as a working Senior Lead. Ensures established policies and procedures are effectively enforced. Controls shop maintenance schedule to ensure maximum utilization of assigned personnel. Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards and to ensure section maintains the highest standards of workmanship and quality. Lead and performs daily equipment maintenance operations on a full range of operator, organizational, direct support and limited general support equipment repairs on both wheeled and tracked vehicles. Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as, but not limited to cranes, manlifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, variable reach forklifts and platform grapplers. Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects; dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists and hand tools; examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges; replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions; and tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency. Leads and directs subcontracted workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Adhere to maintenance program production schedules and ensures all mission are executed on time and at the highest quality possible. + Supervises and directs subcontracted labor ensuring project goals are met and standards are maintained + Coordinates staffing requirements and technical approach for task orders solicitation + Supervise the execution of the overall daily PMCS. Ensure current vehicle services and maximum utilization of equipment usage. Track miles/kilometers and hours used for each piece of equipment. + Ensure that the responsibility, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood. + Responsible for prioritizing shop work and assigning appropriate teams to work + Monitor subcontractor performance and address any issues that may arise with service. + Assist with disciplinary action, when appropriate. + Implements and maintain a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority. + Communicates professionally, both orally and written. + Interacts professionally with the customer and other agencies. + Performs other duties as required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: Two years related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. + Must be a U.S. Citizen + High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Must provide a copy of the diploma. + A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License + Minimum of eight (8) years of experience working full-time on gasoline/diesel engines of light/medium/heavy duty equipment and construction vehicles including cranes and aerial lift platforms. + Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow. + Commercial Driver’s license is preferred. + Must be able to operate vehicles with a manual transmission. Preferred Qualification: + Undergraduate Degree is preferred. Experience: + Minimum of eight (8) years of experience working in heavy equipment and automotive maintenance operations or equivalent with minimum of three (3) years of experience in a lead position. + Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience working full-time on gasoline/diesel engines and heavy equipment vehicles. + Must be proficient in diagnostic troubleshooting, fault repair and maintenance of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems. + Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, with the ability to understand the effect of decisions is required. + High-level organizational and planning skills, so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately is required. + Excellent computer, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills required. + Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and USG Army Information Systems (AIS). Requires excellent organizational skills; with the ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions. Skills: + Demonstrates a high level of skill in troubleshooting and remediating faults and repairs as it relates to heavy equipment, motors and automobiles. + Ability to demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in a professional demeanor is required. + Ability to work effectively with employees and management of all levels to include multinational staff, superiors and ranking military offices. + Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, with the ability to understand the effect of decisions is required. + Moderate proficiency in the use of MS Office. + High-level organizational and planning skills, so that workflow is managed efficiently and accurately. + Ability to effectively respond to inquiries or complaints both verbally and in writing. + Must have strong interpersonal skills. + A collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork is required. + Time management skills due to fast-moving, demanding work environment are required. Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in different weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 86 degrees Fahrenheit or above. + Indoor and/or outdoor environment (i.e., humid, hot, rainy season). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
