The primary role of a Mobile Engineer is to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across multiple facilities. This position requires technical expertise in one craft area such as Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations, while also being multi-skilled in other areas.
ResponsibilitiesPerform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire Life Safety, and Control systems to keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards.Travel between multiple facilities to ensure proper functionality.Maintain responsibility for facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and demonstrate technical proficiency.Clean, inspect, calibrate, and change parts to maintain HVAC systems and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.Comply with departmental policy for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials, maintaining a clean and safe workplace.Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.Comply with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas. Recognize and propose methods to eliminate danger and safety hazards.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma or Equivalent.5-7 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.Ability to analyze the operation of various Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action.EPA 608 Type II Certification.Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.Valid driver’s license.Additional Skills & QualificationsEPA 608 Universal Certification is preferred.Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC.Why Work Here?Enjoy the benefits of a union benefits package after transitioning to a direct role. Work EnvironmentThe position involves traveling from location to location within the Greater Grand Rapids area, with travel distances ranging from 10-15 miles between facilities. Initially, the candidate will use their own vehicle for the first two months, receiving mileage reimbursement at 72 cents per mile. In the third month, a work van will be provided for use. A valid state driver’s license must be possessed and maintained.
