Supports CLIA-Moderately Complex Testing Laboratory at MercyOne Clinic LaboratoriesResponsibilities include performing phlebotomy and laboratory tests such as CBC, urinalysis, and Flu/COVID/Strep testing, among othersHours vary between 7a- 6p (M-F) and 8a-1p (S-Sun)Accurately identifies patients prior to phlebotomy collection of specimens using two patient identifiers as established by laboratory policyMay perform patient registration as it relates to requested laboratory testingIndependently performs analysis of biological specimens as trained and per laboratory operating proceduresMonitors the collection, transportation, storage, identification and processing of laboratory specimens to ensure specimen integrity prior to testingResponsible for operation, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentationRecognizes deviation from expected results, analyzes and corrects problems according to laboratory policiesPerforms quality control per established frequency, monitors results and takes appropriate action to maintain test accuracy and precisionAssists with new instrument or procedure implementation and trainingAssists and supports quality management systems and performance improvement initiativesWorks independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and recordsFollows safe work practices by observing safety and infection control policies and procedures and informing management of any hazards that may existMaintains supply inventoriesParticipates in training new employeesOperates laboratory information systems, personal computers, and instrument-related computer softwareProvides exceptional customer service to internal and external customersOur Commitment
