Job DescriptionTitle: Control of Works

Location:  BP Pangbourne

Job Description;

Control of Works based on the BP Pangbourne, reporting to the Control of Works Supervisor. The role will be to manage the safety (A minimum of IOSH is required) of all works across site, to issue permits for disciplines including hot works, working at height, excavation etc, (training will be provided), provide health and safety guidance to the technical, facilities and project teams

The candidate is expected to be able to review and comments on RAMs in a suitable and effective manner as well as being able to write a Method statement and Risk assessment

The role will require some travelling to the following sites; London, Milton Keynes and Pangbourne, we maybe be asked to look at other sites in the future.

The individual should have an excellent understanding of Health and Safety and have experience in issuing permits and have worked in the FM arena, they should be proactive, able to work in a team, have good communication skills, have a keen desire to learn and understand, approachable, have logical thinking, adapt to the site requirements and be comfortable to be able to approach anyone undertaking works to carry out safety conversations

Required to support remotely with the other UK sites and offer SME support to aid them as required.

Contracted hours are 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week. There will be training provided to upskill candidate to meet the requirements to be a appointed person in there disciplines. Ongoing training and support.

Requirement to support clients needs outside of core hours that will be paid as Overtime.

  Role Summary:

Walk the site and monitor low risk activitiesIssue high risk permits continually monitoring through the dayConduct safety conversations of works taking place on siteWorking with another Control of Work AP’sGood understanding of word and excel and other IT programsAdding contractors to the site access system (Smartsheet)Filing permits and associated paperworkUndertake specific training as per site BP processesCarry out audits on site permit systemCarry out audits at other BP sitesReview/assess RAMs and provide comments based on current legislationWriting RAMs for the technical departmentBe able to stop works if unsafeFeel comfortable to speak with contractors to make sure low risk works have RAMs which should be read, understood and signedEscalate issues to the Control of Works SupervisorInspecting work area for safe handover once work has been completed for the dayCarry out weekly plantroom inspections

Experience Required:

Essential:

Excellent understanding of Health and safety legislation (IOSH required, NEBOSH beneficial), working at height, hot works etc.Excellent communication skillsDesire to learn and retain knowledgeSelf-motivated, resourceful, and pro-activeConfident decision makerPC Literate - PC and MS office skills.Able to organise self to manage assigned tasksUnderstanding of engineering and FMAble to provide constructive feedbackAbility to offer suggestions for improvementWorks well within a teamCan work well under pressureExcellent attention to detail

Qualifications/ Experience

Minimum of 3 years working within the FM industry including technical departmentIOSH or equivalent Health and safety trainingPreferably IPAF, PASMA
