Mines Manager or Site Head - UG Coal Mining

Mine Operations & Production Management:

Oversee daily UG mining operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.

Responsible for daily inspection of UG mine operations to supervise, manage & control the mining operations and to do mine planning on regular basis to carry mechanized UG mining operations with high standards of safety  and   to optimize efficiency . 

Implement cost-effective measures to enhance operational performance and stay within allocated budgets.

To  formulate & develop Risk assessment based Safety management plans for all UG mining operations/activities .

To comply with all the provisions of Mines Act1952/CMR-2017/Mines Rules/VTC Rules/Rescue rules/DGMS circulars and all relevant applicable laws.

Responsible for the formulating the ground support plans in line with SCAMP and to formulate safety COPs & SOPs for all operations related to the mine.

Responsible for the ensuring trainings and re-training of the employees deployed in various mining operations and all safety materials and gadgets are procured and placed in operation.

Monitor and evaluate mining equipment performance, ensuring timely maintenance and repairs to prevent delays.

Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to streamline mining processes.

Pre-Construction Planning & Regulatory Compliance:

Lead pre-construction activities, ensuring all statutory clearances, including environmental and forest approvals, are obtained.

Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DGMS, Pollution Control Board, and State Mining Offices to secure necessary permits.

Manage land acquisition challenges and ensure smooth transition processes for mining operations.

Develop and implement a comprehensive Safety Management Plan in compliance with DGMS norms, MMDR Act, and environmental laws.

Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training programs to ensure a zero-accident workplace.

Resource Allocation & Cost Management:

Strategically deploy personnel and equipment to maximize efficiency and achieve production goals.

Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment downtime.

Ensure proper inventory management for spare parts and consumables to avoid disruptions in operations.

Monitor project expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial alignment with budgetary constraints.

Innovation & Digital Transformation:

Drive the adoption of digital tools such as pit-to-plant digitization to enhance transparency and decision-making.

Implement advanced mechanization practices and data analytics to improve operational efficiency.

Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to integrate innovative technologies into mining operations.

Regularly evaluate digital platforms to optimize performance and align with business objectives.

Stakeholder & Team Management:

Liaise with internal teams, including engineering, logistics, finance, and HR, to align operational goals with business strategies.

Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as contractors, regulatory authorities, and community representatives.

Ensure clear communication and periodic updates on project progress and operational challenges.

Resolve disputes and monitor contractor performance to maintain adherence to project timelines.

Safety & Environmental Governance:

Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing adherence to safety protocols and industry best practices.

Lead incident investigations and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, air quality monitoring, and sustainability initiatives.

Stay updated on the latest regulatory developments affecting mining operations.
