The Opportunity

 

Lead employees and oversee coordination of mill processes in upset conditions. Lead to ensure mill Culture of Ownership, Leadership and Engagement with Strategic Focus area for work prioritization of Safety, Reliability and Housekeeping.

 

How you will Impact WestRock:

 

SafetyModel and set expectations for safe behaviors. Consistently apply Balmert leadership tools.Intervene when unsafe acts or conditions are observed.Observe and set expectations regarding housekeeping standards.Report, document, and lead Event Inquiries for injuries and property damage.Ensure operators complete all required safety training.Serve as Incident Command/Emergency Response Team Leader (IC/ERTL) for site emergency incidents including but not limited to fire, medical and confined space.Model HOP principles and participate in HOP events for area of responsibilityEnvironmentalUnderstand mill air, water and effluent permits and limits to support site operating team in production decisions to ensure mill operates within full compliance of those permits.Serve as IC/ERTL for Haz-Mat and oil spill incidents.Support the timely reporting, response and root cause investigation in the case of environmental upsets.Production/MaintenanceMaintain oversight and coordination of mill fiber and steam balance.Manage and communicate unscheduled grade changes for PM’s 5 & 7.Serve as a primary after-hours contact for unscheduled maintenance events.Ensure on-shift maintenance activities are consistent with EPAM and reliability best practices.Support the RCFA process by capturing support information for follow-up.Endure Operator Driven Reliability routes are completed as expected to a high level of quality.Maintain a focus on ensuring mill work processes, systems and checklists are effectively executed.Work through the main gate for maintenance call-ins.People/LeadershipLead Paper Machines 5 and 7, Logistics and shift maintenance hourly personnel on shift.Coordinate proper communication across operating areas in the mill regarding issues that may have a broader impact.Actively participate in hourly training processParticipate in and manage the disciplinary process as needed for assigned crewLead and develop operating teams to exemplify the culture of Ownership, Leadership, and Engagement.Own the performance of direct reports and recognize positive behaviors and results.Ensure time and pay is correctly entered for direct reports.Manage unscheduled vacancies for areas of responsibility.CommunicationLead daily 7:30am production meeting between supervisors of Pulp and PM’s 1, 2, & 3.Facilitate the weekend morning and evening calls and meetings.Ensure escalation notifications and communications as required on safety, environmental and production are made as expected.Communicate with direct reports on mill strategies, performance, and priorities.Connect employees to how their performance impacts the mill’s business goals.Complete and send mill coordinator report at the end of each shift. 

  

What you need to succeed:

 

1-2 years related experience preferredAbility to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environmentStrong troubleshooting and decision-making skillsStrong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraintsStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively and in a professional mannerProficient in Microsoft Office systems

 

Compensation Offered

 

Pay (or pay range): $96,475 – $130,525 DOE (Junior, Intermediate, Senior levels)Bonus Eligible: Annual Incentive Program (AIP) bonus based on metrics

The salary range for this position is $72,375.00 - $120,625.00, depending on your role, level, and location. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
