Job Title: MIG Welder

Job Description

The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components according to blueprints and specifications. This role involves operating welding equipment, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

Fabricate and weld metal components such as leg stands, cab shields, engine mounts, and light bars using MIG welding techniques.Perform MIG tack welding to secure steel pieces prior to final welding.Execute cosmetic MIG welds on finished products, including VBOX Hopper Spreaders.Perform straight line and in-position/out-of-position MIG welding with consistency.Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate welding specifications.Inspect welds visually to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.Operate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.Cut, grind, and fit metal parts before welding.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in MIG welding, with the ability to perform high-quality welds on steel and possibly aluminum.Experience welding stainless steel with thicknesses ranging from 14 gauge to 3/4 inch plate.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.Strong fabrication skills, including cutting, grinding, and fitting metal parts.Skill in visually inspecting welds for quality and adherence to specifications.Experience using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Around 2-3 years of experience working as a welder in a manufacturing environment.Manual dexterity with steady hands and good hand-eye coordination.Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials, and work in various positions.Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including PPE use and hazard recognition.Attention to detail with precision in measurements and weld quality.Time management skills to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.Ability to collaborate effectively with other welders, fabricators, and engineers.Problem-solving skills to identify and correct welding or fabrication issues.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL 61109.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
