Job Description As a Microbiological Lab Analyst, you will play a vital role in receiving, documenting, and analyzing food, beverage, and environmental samples. You will ensure the integrity of samples and conduct various microbiological tests and analyses to support our client's objectives. Responsibilities + Receive, log, and label incoming samples while adhering to chain-of-custody procedures. + Verify sample integrity and storage conditions upon arrival. + Perform qualitative and quantitative testing for pathogens and indicator organisms using qPCR or ELFA technologies. + Assist in conducting shelf-life studies, challenge studies, and environmental monitoring analyses. + Prepare, dilute, and plate samples using standard ISO, BAM, USDA-FSIS, and FDA methods. + Record all necessary lab data on work orders and review data for accuracy. + Communicate findings to senior staff and assist with client inquiries when required. + Follow all laboratory safety protocols, including PPE use and biosafety level requirements. + Maintain a clean, organized, and contamination-free workspace. + Adhere to ISO quality management standards and regulatory compliance requirements. + Operate general lab equipment and perform routine maintenance and cleaning. + Assist with proficiency testing and participate in internal training programs. + Support special projects, including new product testing. Essential Skills + Laboratory skills with proficiency in pipetting and microbiology. + Knowledge of PCR and aseptic techniques. + Ability to adapt to workflow changes and perform titrations. + Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy. + 1 to 2 years of experience with a degree, or 4 to 5 years without a degree. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Basic microbiology testing on food. + Ability to perform titrations and sterile processing. + Experience in a lab setting with a focus on food microbiology. Work Environment Work in a small microbiology testing lab focused on generating data for clients. The environment is relaxed, with workflow fluctuations depending on client demands. Work a rotating shift from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Tuesday to Saturday, with early release on Saturdays around 1:30 pm.
