Job Summary
Manages and oversees all activities of Respiratory Therapist and support staff to ensure the efficient and effective daily work flow in the delivery of quality patient exams and care. Coordinates and implements Respiratory programs, policies and procedures and assumes the responsibility for ensuring that all programs meet hospital accreditation standards and regulatory compliance. Manages the delivery of patient care, ensuring that it is provided according to established standards of care and practice.
Essential Functions
+ Manage and oversee Respiratory Therapy staff who administer respiratory care in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system. Ensure that all procedures are performed in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines and in accordance with department and legal/regulatory standards.
+ Oversee and monitor the maintenance of Respiratory Care equipment to ensure that all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly and in accordance to hospital and legal/regulatory standards.
+ Manage the activities of professional, clinical, technical and support staff who are engaged in providing respiratory care services. Provide direction and support to subordinate staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Facilitate the hiring process; mentor, coach and develop staff and acts as a role model and resource to them. Encourage excellence in performance and deliver positive and negative feedback to staff in an ongoing manner and in performance appraisals. Utilize reward and corrective action processes as appropriate; address complaints, research and resolve problems in a timely manner.
+ Plan, implement and monitor the annual financial planning process, including revenue, expense and FTE planning. Coordinate benchmarking process with financial analyst.
+ Engage in continuous study of professional field, including best practices, to maintain professional competence, knowledge, and skill.
+ Complete and document required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
+ Participate on departmental and hospital committees/task forces. Attend meetings and inservices as required for position.
Qualifications
Required
+ Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field, or equivalent
+ Previous Respiratory Care experience
+ Previous management / supervisory experience
+ Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health
+ CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care
+ LIC-Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) - STATE_MI State of Michigan required
+ CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross within 90 days of hire
