About the role
The Internal Audit ERM and Compliance Manager plays a critical role in strengthening the organization’s risk management and compliance posture. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, and for leading and conducting investigations into potential compliance violations, fraud, and other misconduct. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with senior leaders and stakeholders.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $120,000-$150,000
Work Location: Florham Park, NJ
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office 2 days from home)
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM):
Lead the design and development of the ERM program, including the implementation of Workiva Risk Management.
Collaborate with business units and senior leadership to integrate risk management into strategic planning and operational decision-making.Facilitate ongoing management and enhancements of the ERM program, including risk identification, prioritization, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting processes.Facilitate risk workshops and maintain the enterprise risk register.Develop and deliver periodic risk reporting to executive management and the Audit Committee.Monitor emerging risks and trends by utilizing methods such as data analytics and recommend to management proactive strategies to address them.Monitor risk mitigation strategies and their effectiveness, ensuring timely corrective actions are taken when necessary to prevent regulatory and/or reputational harm.Support the development of key risk indicators (KRIs) and risk appetite statements.Uses network to continually identify (or become alerted to) risks and conditions that might require the deployment or re-alignment of internal audit resources to respond to urgent issues.Develop and deliver ERM training programs to enhance risk awareness and promote a risk-conscious culture throughout the organization.Compliance Investigations:
Manage and conduct internal investigations related to compliance violations, fraud, ethics breaches, and other misconduct.Develop investigation plans, gather and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, and document findings.Prepare clear, concise, and objective investigation reports for senior management and legal counsel.Coordinate with Legal, HR, and other departments to ensure appropriate remediation and disciplinary actions.Maintain confidentiality and integrity throughout the investigation process.Track and report investigation metrics and trends to identify systemic issues and recommend improvements.Additional Responsibilities:
Perform ad-hoc internal audits and projects by providing support to the department (e.g. lead and participate directly in the performance of activities designed to achieve the annual internal audit plan and ensures timely delivery of high-quality audit results). Assists other department members with achievement of their designated portions of the annual internal audit plan.Design and facilitate a formal fraud risk assessment process and integrate it with the Internal Audit risk assessment process to formulate the annual audit plan. Develops and maintains a network of productive relationships with senior company management and is committed to continually satisfying internal audit’s stakeholders.Lead the Internal Audit staff and provide oversight and review of their work.Develop new strategies for audit that focus on emerging risks and proactive risk mitigation.Assists with the drafting, review and delivery of issues and ensures that management responds adequately to the issues and recommendations. Collaborate with the business to drive remediation plans that are pragmatic and achievable.Provide value-added process improvement recommendations to business units/functions.Maintains an understanding of the industry, regulatory changes, business trends and emerging developments of relevance and shares this knowledge frequently with the department members.Maintains an expertise in ERM COSO Framework and other relevant corporate governance items.Facilitate and drive a quality-oriented environment stressing continuous improvement ideas/opportunities within the department and throughout the business.Foster a collaborative environment for everyone to bring forth ideas and opinions.Contribute to the evolution of internal audit by incorporating data analytics, RPA, dashboarding, AI, etc.Proactively coach and provide guidance to other team members to enable successful and timely execution of audits, achievement of goals and continued professional development.Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field.Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, or similar certification) required.8+ years of experience in internal audit, risk management, and/or compliance investigations.Strong knowledge of ERM frameworks (e.g., COSO ERM, ISO 31000), internal controls, and regulatory compliance.Proven experience conducting complex investigations and preparing executive-level reports.Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all levels.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.High ethical standards and sound judgment.Excellent written, verbal, and inter-personal skillsAbility to travelPreferred Skills:
